WATCH AND PRAY



Verse of the Day: Colossians 4:2 (NIV)

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”

Jesus said “Watch and Pray!” So many nights I sit in my bed and I might study my bible for a bit, but so often I do not want to get on my knees and watch and pray. It is a war in the flesh because the flesh is weak. I often times end up falling asleep praying in my bed KNOWING the best way for me to pray would be to get myself up out the bed and get on my knees. The flesh is weak! No matter how many times we pray throughout the day as we go about, there is nothing like the alone time with God in prayer.

Mark 13:33-37 (KJV)


Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.  For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”

Lord, give us strength to get up and pray in our alone time with you, without distraction, so that you can speak Lord into our lives. Amen! God desires to speak to us, but are we listening? God can speak in the busyness of the day or in the quietness of the night, but don’t we want to hear God ALL the time? I pray for deliverance from sleeping through my prayers. Lord, help me to be thankful and to pray even when I don’t feel like it. Amen! Prayer changes things in our atmosphere, so let’s start changing some things through prayer and let His work in us be established.

Matthew 26:35 (NIV)


But Peter declared, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” And all the other disciples said the same.

If I had been watching and praying, if my husband had been watching and praying, if Peter and the other disciples were watching and praying, rather than sleeping, would we have still disowned Christ? Thank God for His amazing grace! He will never disown us! His hands are always open to accept His prodigal sons, Amen!

Matthew 26:36-45 (NIV)


Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter.  “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Let us follow the example and instructions of Jesus and WATCH AND PRAY! Will we keep watch with Him? Will we walk in the spirit and conquer this flesh? AMEN! Temptation is calling from all directions, trying to steal away our time with God. We have to be constantly building this house or this house will surely fall.

To the ONE who can keep us from falling, let us submit to Him, His will, His way, and watch and pray. Let us obey and serve the Lord! Again, devoting (which means to give up or appropriate, to concentrate, set apart or dedicate, or to consecrate), ourselves to prayer being “watchful and thankful!” Amen! Get out the bed and get low teaching our children to do the same!

As always, the Lord is talking to me. Is He on your street too?

Sunshine After the Storm


Verse of the day: 1 Chronicles 16:31

“Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; and let men say among the nations, “The Lord reigneth.”

I woke up late today and hit a stumbling block on what to write about. I had been writing daily about the verses that were in my notebook, when I noticed today that the verses began to repeat all over again. But as the day was drawing to a close, the Lord reminded me of the sunshine after the storm today. Yesterday I wrote about the calm after the storm and having peace in the midst of the storm. Joy came in the morning because I put my trust in God!

Yesterday was not a great day for me. I was frustrated with the kids and the husband for the most part, but God reminded me of the battle and brought me to my knees to read again what I wrote earlier that day about going through these storms. Today, I awoke to ice melting, sunshine, and blessings all around me, the same blessings I was ungrateful about yesterday.

Today, I was able to see God smile down from the heavens on me and my house. THE LORD REIGNS FOREVER! God will work in the hearts around us just like He works in ours. If we just have the patience to wait on Him in the midst of the storm, we can appreciate the sunshine after the storm.

Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun”

Be thankful for those little things that annoy you day to day…They are shaping you to become something GREATER. Be thankful for those little things that annoy you day to day…They are shaping you to become something GREATER. Yes, I said it twice so I could read it twice. (Sinking in now!)

In the Midst of the Storm







Verse of the day: Psalm 13:5 (NIV)

But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.”

Storms may come, but they don’t last always, Amen! We put our hope and trust in God’s unfailing love knowing that he will bring us out right on time and rejoice in His saving grace.

As I sit and write this, I see snow outside, about a ¼ inch or so IN FLORIDA!  Yes, I don’t think I have ever seen snow on the ground in Florida, but a winter storm brought us some of God’s “wintery glory!”

In the midst of this storm, there is a calm and a peace when I look up to God and know that the storm will not last. The storms in my life will pass. My marriage will be brought out of the miry pit. I will trust in His love to bring us through, because His love never fails.

When Jesus was on the boat asleep, the disciples began to be worried about the storm that was tossing them to and fro. They ran to Jesus asking Him how could he sleep through the storm. They feared death. Jesus has the power over death and the grave and He was not troubled over the storm, but He rebuked the storm and the winds and the waves obeyed Him.

We trust in the Lord through the storm. He is able to give us peace and deliverance in the midst of the storm. Trouble may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning. Praise Be the name of the Lord!

I thank God for His salvation and love for us, that in the midst of it all, His love endures, longsuffering and gentle. It’s a battle warring in the flesh, trying to overcome the emotions of life, but I submit to His will and press on in Christ. It is His good will that I prosper in the faith and in His love. This I will do as I commit my trust in the Lord.

Let us rejoice in God our Savior and take joy in our King! Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker and trust in Him! Amen!

Fullness of Joy



Verse of the Day:

Psalm 16:11 (KJV)

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

The devil can’t steal your joy, you have to relinquish your joy over to him. But God says He will not let us be tempted beyond what we can handle. It is our choice to give up our joy or put Satan under our feet. When anger rises up…GET UNDER MY FEET! When depression sneaks in…GET UNDER MY FEET! When disappointment is in front of you…GET UNDER MY FEET! Get in HIS presence and you will have fullness of joy AND eternal pleasures, Halleluyah!

Why is it that little things can so easily get under our skin sometimes, and other times we blow it off like it isn’t nothing? I ask another question with this, how much time have you spent with God today? I speak to my own self. How much time have I spent, quality time, with God today? Let me pause and bow down now, Amen!

See, I’ll be honest. God is working on me in many areas. Praying and being in His presence more often is one of them. I will get in the word daily but for me that is not enough. If you want the fullness of joy in God, you have to be willing to bow down often AND submit to the will of God. I’m on my street right now…Am I on yours? Our Father’s will is an amazing place to be.

 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.  If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.  I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

I want His joy in me and I need complete joy, fullness of joy TODAY! Amen! Let’s go on to perfection through the one who is perfect. We look to Jesus…

Hebrews 12:2 (KJV)


Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

O, God you are speaking today! O Praise His holy name! I feel a jump in my spirit and it feels so good! Yes Lord! We look to JESUS! O WHAT HE DID, “endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of God!”

Go ahead and praise Him right now for His marvelous work in you! I can’t help but to praise Him: He has done such a great work in me that when I read this I got to “SHOUT, HALLELUYAH, THANK YOU JESUS, LORD YOU’RE WORTHY, OF ALL THE GLORY, AND ALL THE HONOR, AND ALL THE PRAISE!”

Bless the Lord today and come into the fullness of joy!

Sustaining Hope and Peace



Verse of the Day:

Romans 15:13 (KJV)

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”

I just want to get up and shout on this one. O how we need joy and peace in believing because storms are going to come, especially as a believer. That hope God gives us in all peace and joy sustains us in trials and tribulations because we know the expected end is good. We also know that no weapon formed against us will prosper. So no matter what we are going through we can have that sustaining hope and peace that God will see us through to the very end.

We run to receive a prize of eternal life. We may fall 100 times but we get back up and keep running with our eyes on our savior. Through the power of God, the Holy Ghost, we have all power because Jesus lives in us and nothing will take us away from the love of God. Amen! No devil in hell can stop us. The power to surrender is ours.

Pastor preached recently about having to lose sometimes to win, a song sung by Fantasia. We really do have to learn to lose. Pride comes before a fall, but if we learn to humble ourselves, we will learn to win the battle. Our hope is in Him and the battle is not ours but the Lord’s. If we just submit to His will, the rest will fall into place. We have to be strong IN THE LORD, His will over our will and WE WILL overcome any situation.

There is POWER in the name of JESUS! Amen! He truly is breaking every chain, they are falling off every step we take in the SPIRIT! Halleluyah!

Let this hope of eternal glory and deliverance now give us the joy and peace today as we surrender all to HIM!

He’s Working it Out

Verse of the Day: Romans 8:28 (KJV)
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
No matter what we go through, we can stand assured that in the end, it is for our good. For ALL are called, but if you love God this promise is for you. How many of you love the Lord today?
I remember wanting to be married and being single, loving and serving God but my prayers seemed so far from being answered. Every man I thought would be the one, turned out not to be. I was disappointed, but God told me one day to wait on Him, keep digging, because my Goldmine was right around the corner.
Months later I was married to a man who would sacrifice his life in serving and providing for his family. God worked it out as I continued to love on Him and it was GOOD! Amen! We have 4 beautiful children and have been married now over 6 years and God is still working out situations in our lives for our good. God is Good, amen!
Put your hope and trust in the Lord and continue to love him through the word of God and prayer, through fellowship and serving others, and selfless love like our example in Jesus Christ.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Overcomers through Christ-Testimony Time


Verse of the Day: Revelations 2:7
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.”
Are we listening to the Spirit of God? We need our spiritual ears turned up to overcome through Christ. He will direct our path and in the end we will eat of the tree of life, which is everlasting life. Here is a short version of my testimony.
Growing up I was molested as a young child, brought up in a broken home, but the little bit of Christ put in me never left me. As a teen, my boyfriend was a married man, I was having sex, using drugs, and consuming alcohol regularly. I began to sell drugs and run the streets heavily as a young adult. Partying and making money was my way of life, but Christ was still with me.
Basketball kept me grounded though. I played through high school but with all the distractions, I was not as good as I could have been. I did get a scholarship to PJC which I blew by getting kicked out for alcohol and partying. God still gave me a second chance at another scholarship at Shaw University which I blew for drugs and pursuing music.  I ended up getting involved with the wrong crowd, signing with a record label, and caught up in theft and all kinds of evil, but God never left me.
I ended up prostituting myself and working in strip clubs, but God even sent people to me during this rough time. He continued to watch over me. My life continued with more drug sales and a lifestyle in the fast lane. This soon came to a halt when I got the revelation that I was pregnant. I told God if I was pregnant I would give my life to him and 3 months later, I was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost. Amen! Those things that had me bound were no longer holding me back and I was set free by the Lamb of God!

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Halleluyah! I was no longer “Dirty Red”, my alias, I was now who God created me to be, a child of the most High God! I am an overcomer through Christ who saved me from a world of sin. And now I stand firm on the Rock, Jesus Christ, the anchor of my soul. Nothing can take me away from the love of Christ!

Romans 8:35-39 (KJV)

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

He Watches Over Me-Testimony Time




Verse of the Day: Psalm 145:20

“The Lord watches over all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy.”

What does it mean to love the Lord? Is it a mere outward professing of our love to the Lord or is it in the inward focus on the heart towards God? God watches over us all, even when we are yet in sin, He is still watching over us. But the righteous, will be delivered out of all their troubles. Those troubles that come up against the righteous will not prosper not will they quench their love for God. It is these trials that make them stronger which God allows for them to prosper and grow in the faith, a refining by fire.

The Lord says He will destroy the wicked. These are the people who refuse God no matter what. Some, unfortunately, will not acknowledge God, will not serve God, will continue to do evil even in the sight of His love and salvation throughout their lives. These are the ones who will never choose the ways of God because they rather have darkness than the light. The wicked will not stand in the day of judgment, but those who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

So God is looking at the heart of His people. He is so merciful and mighty to save that we can deny God and still come back to Him, and He will again receive us. Isn’t that just simply amazing, His grace. Amen! I denied God for a short time after being a believer, and God came to me in a vision and revealed himself to me through the Lord Jesus. I repented and came back to the Lord and I am forgiven. I am forever grateful for the love of God in my life.

When I was yet in sin, drinking, partying, using drugs, selling drugs, and the list goes on…God was still there sending people to me to pull me out of the fire. He answered my prayers to get me out of trouble and later I turned to Him. Love is patient and love is kind. Thank God for patience and love for me!

He never let my foot slip. One example of God’s amazing love for me is when I was going to the club by myself. I was getting high on some of the weed I was selling at the time. I had a bottle of liquor in the car, an unregistered Dillinger, and a whole bag full of guts from cigars leftover from rolling up the weed. I was a mess. I was looking for love and never knew God was right there and that’s exactly what he wanted to give me…love!

When I got to the club, I was stopped by an officer who told me I was illegally parked. I had parked on the slanted lines instead of a parking place because the lot was pretty full and I was high. I had seen the officers standing there but being under the influence I didn’t care.  The lady officer tapped on my window and I rolled the window down. The smoke filling my car then escaped and hit the officer in the face giving her the opportunity to search the car.

I was asked to step out of the car and was searched. I did not bring any drugs to sell this night because I listened to the voice that said don’t bring anything tonight. So glad that I did listen to that voice which I know was God. The only thing I had on me was the leftover blunt I was smoking. The officer began searching the car and asked if I smoked a lot seeing all the trash from the blunts that had been used that day. I admitted I did smoke but I lied and said I had friends in the car with me that day. There was an opened bottle of liquor in the car and in my purse, the Dillinger. The officer asked was the Dillinger mine and I lied and said no. It really was mine and had been given to me from a drug business associate for protection. I did admit to drinking and smoking weed.

I was hand cuffed and taken to the back of the police vehicle. I then began to pray. I was not a spiritual person at the time and only knew 2 prayers, the Lord’s prayer and the Jabez prayer. I began crying and praying. I had just received probation for petty theft and battery (that’s another story), the law for 10-20-life had just been advertised, and it wasn’t looking good for me. But God was watching over me because I called on the name of the Lord in my distress and trouble and He heard my cry in my sin. Amen!

After an hour of crying and praying in that backseat of the police vehicle, the officer gave me these orders: walk a straight line, pour out the liquor, sign the gun over to us, and go in the club and sober up. What!!! God had delivered me! I didn’t even have to move my car which was illegally parked. I will never forget God’s love for me this day and will retell of His love and mercy forever.

You may not even realize the love for God you have built up on the inside of you, but God knows the heart. He does not look on the outside of us, He looks at the heart. Thank God! God heard my prayer, He heard my cries, and he delivered me out of my trouble because I called on Him to deliver me.

It does not matter what we are going through. God will meet us where we are. All we got to do is call on Him! He is watching over those who love Him, who will acknowledge Him, and it is Him who leads us in righteousness one step at a time. Praise the name of the Lord!

Thank you Lord for your amazing grace! God, my Deliverer, Moshia, watches over me and I love Him more now than ever before!

Lead Me




Verse of the day: Psalm 143:10 (KJV)

 Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.”

Thinking about this verse today I thought about the song “Lead me to the Cross.” The chorus says, “lead me to the cross, where your love poured out, bring me to my knees, Lord I lay me down, rid me of myself, I belong to you, Oh, Lead me to the cross!” Amen! Powerful words!

There is nothing more that I want than to be in God’s will because I know in His will, I have everything I need and all is good. I know His will is to be living a lifestyle filled with uprightness by His spirit. It all comes back to the cross. No matter what we do, nothing can take us away from the His love for us on the cross, we just need to call on Him to teach and lead us by His good spirit.

 “This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
 your kingdom come,

your will be done,
    on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
    as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from the evil one.’”

Let God lead us today and teach us his will for our lives.  I am so glad that when I seek Him, I find Him, just as the word of God says. I will be studying at home and the same subject God has had me on, will be what the preacher is teaching. Awesome! This is just confirmation of the spirit of God moving in our lives and His desire to teach us. I love those confirmations!

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

I love it! God’s reminding us through His holy Spirit what he has already told us or shown us but are we listening? Let’s open our ears today and hear what thus saith the Lord. He is leading us and showing us how to break these chains in our lives. O, open up your hearts today and be ATTENTIVE to His voice people of God!

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

The Lord desires a meek and quiet spirit which He is the example of. He says “learn from me!” Amen! We want to listen to what our friends on facebook say, our coworkers, and family, but what does God say?

These people are not our God and we need to stand firm in him and let Him lead us because wherever he leads us will be good, amen!

Be Thankful Unto Him


 
Verse of The Day:
Psalm 100:4
“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
Today, I am thinking of this song we used to sing at Living Water Gospel Ministries. “Enter His gates with thanksgiving….enter his courts with praise, enter his gates with thanksgiving, enter his courts with praise, and bless...and bless his name…Be thankful unto him!” Amen!
Everybody stomping, and clapping, and magnifying the Lord together. What a blessing to be thankful and sing praises to the Lord!
At Striving for Perfection Ministries we used to sing “When I think about the Lord, how he saved me, how he raised me, how he filled me with the holy ghost, how he healed me, to the uttermost…when I think about the Lord, how he picked up and turned me around, how he placed my feet, on solid ground….it makes me want to shout HALLELUYAH, THANK YOU JESUS, LORD YOU’RE WORTH OF ALL THE GLORY, AND ALL THE HONOR, AND ALL THE PRAISE!”
That song to this day, just thinking about the goodness of God and what HE has done, brings tears to my eyes. I can’t contain myself but to break forth in thanksgiving! Halleluyah!
No matter what you’re going through today, be thankful! What can you be thankful for today? Many “things” will try to get us down and take our mind off Jesus, but God is near. Let’s just hold on by faith to the Lord of glory, our rock and salvation, and TRUST that God is able and He is worthy of our praise even in the midst of adversity. Amen!
Bless His name today at work, at home, with your children, with your friends, bless His holy name! There is nothing that can keep you from the love of God today! Be thankful unto Him! Let nothing take your eyes off Jesus!

My Strength When I am Weak



Verse of the Day:

Psalm 73:26 (NIV)

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

This verse today immediately made me think about a popular children’s song we like to sing. “Jesus loves me, this I know. For the bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong. They are weak, but He is strong!” Amen! Yes, we are all weak, not just the women as the weaker vessel, but we all live in this sinful flesh or sin nature. But when we fail, we in Christ know that we have Jesus, our redeemer, our bridge back to the Father. Thank God for Jesus! When we are weak, He is strong. All we got to do is call on Him! Our Deliverer! Amen!

At bible study last night, the message was about Ruth and Naomi and finding rest in the midst of a sifting or winnowing by God’s grace through obedience, sanctification, and humility. We all go through things in this life, but God is near. When we turn our eyes and focus on Him rather than looking down at our circumstances, we get a clear view rather than looking through the dirty glass of our situation. We need to change our focus and trust in the Lord. Through obeying and serving the Lord, we receive strength through the storm and what seemed like a hurricane is only like a little rain to us now that we have Jesus. He strengthens my heart.

Our marriage may be on the rocks, our children may be walking in disobedience, our job may fail us, our friends and family may forsake us, But God’s love will never fail and He is able to deliver us out of all our troubles.

2 Corinthians 1:4 says, “Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”

When we stand in the storm, we can encourage others to stand also because God gives us this comfort for this reason.  His comfort and strength is contagious, just share it and see how great our God is.

Psalm 34:19 says, “The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all”

The people of this world sing songs of “No Worries”, how much more for the people of God! If they claim money and living life in unrighteousness brings them “no worries”, how much more in Jesus shall we be delivered and honestly be able to claim “NO WORRIES!” Amen! Let’s just trust in Him today!

Let’s end today with this power verse:

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” Ephesians 3:20

He can do it, He is able, but do we trust Him? Do we believe? Do we have faith?

Lord, increase our faith today to trust in you with all our hearts. Give us faith like a mustard seed to move mountains in our lives that have been stubborn to move. Give us strength to face today and cast all our cares at your feet. You are our Deliverer. Teach us to walk in obedience and seek you first, God of our salvation. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

I Shall Not Be Moved



Verse Of The Day: Psalm 62:8

Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.”

“Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved. How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence. They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah. My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.  In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity. Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them. God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.  Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

 If we want mercy, be merciful. If we want forgiveness, forgive. If we want riches, set our hearts on God and He will give us riches in heaven and abundant life in the earth. If we want righteousness, sow to the spirit, building God’s house, and you will reap everlasting joy.
 
God is our deliverer, our only rock and salvation through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Trust in Him today! In the ROCK, we will not be moved. 1 Corinthians 15:58 says, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.,
