1 Timothy
4:6-11
A Good Servant of
Jesus Christ
…exercise yourself
toward godliness. 8 For bodily exercise profits a little,
but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now
is and of that which is to come…
I know it can be a lot for a mom and wife with
young children to set time aside and time with God, with the many duties and
responsibilities that come with motherhood and marriage, not to mention the other
endeavors like business ventures, but we must seek first the kingdom of God in
the midst of it all. When we do go after God first, even if its just a little
bit of time at first, we will see the fruits of it in our lives because the
word and prayer brings about a change in our atmosphere. Let’s let go and let
God have his way today, Amen!
Let’s dig into Philippians Chapter 2 shall we.
Chapter 2:1-4 gives us instruction to be one
with God’s spirit so that we can love others better than ourselves or in other
words crucify our selfishness, Amen! It’s so easy to get caught up in our own
agendas, but when we can take on the mind of Christ we can enhance the love in
our relationships in tenderness, compassion, and humility.
In verses 5-8 we can be encouraged to become servants
like Jesus became a servant, humble though equal with God. How much more should
we serve others seeing that Jesus himself was a servant?
Verses 9-11 show us that there is no other name
above Jesus. It is the name through which we are saved and call on for our
healing, deliverance, and salvation. Halleluyah! Praise the name of the Lord!
We are told to work out our own salvation with
fear because God is with us working out his purpose in us. God
has a purpose for us all!
I need to hear verse 14 everyday. Do all things
without complaining or grumbling and without an argument so that we are
blameless! What a word! Though it seems impossible, all things are possible
with Christ. We have to learn to lean on him and shut up really! This shines
the light, our quietness, our contentment, our self-control, which is the fruit
of the spirit or showing of the possession of the spirit of God living in us.
Let’s hold firmly to the word of life! God’s word is LIFE!
Now here is the challenge! Each day you will
