A Good Servant of
Jesus Christ
…exercise yourself
toward godliness. 8 For bodily exercise profits a little,
but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now
is and of that which is to come…
A time to pray! WE finished yesterday talking
about prayer and praying in the spirit. It seems the more kids I have the more
distractions there are and the harder it is for me to focus on spiritual
things, but it shouldn’t be so.
There was a time a few years ago that I was so
desperate I just began to pray and cry out to God in prayer with the kids and I
all holding hands and the spirit of God began to manifest through my mouth and
what a relief to feel the presence of God once again. Oh how I yearn for the
God’s spirit to be living and active in me! Halleluyah!
As we begin Philippians Chapter 1, we can grow
in excitement to know that God is not though with us yet! Yes, we make mistakes
and are far from perfected, but we are moving closer and closer to that reality
through Christ Jesus. Verse 5 says, “he who began a good work
in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
God is working in us as we work. What He has started He will finish. Wait on Him!
Paul’s prayer is my prayer too!
Awesome prayer!
Verses 9-11 state:
9 And
this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and
depth of insight, (we
don’t desire to stay the same but progress in DEPTH OF INSIGHT!!! Why???)10 so that you may be able to discern what is
best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,
11 filled with the
fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and
praise of God.
Let’s continue! In verses 12-26
we see Paul glorifying God in the midst of being held captive in prison in
chains because He knows God is with him and will deliver him and through his
chains God is using it to make others stronger and he continues in the faith
and does not give up in the midst of adversity. We don’t have to give up! Most
of us will never go through what Paul and the other disciples went through
though they stood firm, believing God, and holding on to the promises. Amen! We may go through but we GO THROUGH not
looking back but looking unto Jesus!!! We live to Christ!
We, being led by the spirit of
the one true God, are encouraged to conduct ourselves as children of God worthy
of the gospel as it says in verse 27. And this chapter finishes by saying we
will suffer, but don’t be afraid because we are saved. There is nothing that
can destroy us. We are heirs of the kingdom. To live is Christ and to die is
gain, and tis’ far more better I agree! If only we could get a glimpse of the
things to come, Amen! But by faith we believe and press on!
Now here is the challenge! Each day you will
be challenged to read a chapter in the bible and pray about it. Then read my 30
Day Challenge Post and post a comment either on my blog or Facebook with how God is using this challenge to
increase your faith and spiritual growth.
