Day 19! Colossians 3 gets right to the nitty gritty telling us about our life in Christ and how we must live. We already gave up, or should have given up, the obvious sins, now as we are growing and moving closer to God, we are letting go of the subtle sins.

But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

I still struggle with anger and its usually only when I neglect to fill up my spiritual tank. The more I neglect my spiritual man being fed, the more carnal I become. Its reaping and sowing. When I sow more to the spirit, I reap good quality character to grow on. This is something we must all strive for, godly character.

I love it when I go to church and you can see God at work all over the place. God can really just blow our minds sometimes. Yesterday He did just that. First, I left my house fed up with the way things were at home and was contemplating separating from my husband for a while. While teaching Sunday School, my husband showed up and has never been to my church. Then an old friend of his shows up who has never been to my church before either.  It was like God had orchestrated a reunion and peace in the midst of trouble and trials. And to top it all off, the pastor preached from James 1 about having patience and persevering through the trials and tribulations.

God knows our every need and when we go through things he is allowing them to build us up and make us stronger and to test our faith. We will pass the test or will we fail? Just know that either way God is there to show us the results and give us a door that leads us to righteous decision. But it is still our choice to choose the right path.

So we see in Colossians 3:12-17 compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience, peace, thankfulness, and love on top. If we add these things to any relationship we will succeed in making the best efforts of a healthy relationship, but this takes effort and work and walking in the spirit.

Let’s remember to be thankful in all things and let Christ rule our hearts! His ways are always better anyway! ;)

Colossians 3 ends with simple instructions: Wives submit to the husband, husbands treat your wives and children right, children obey the parents, and workers work as unto the Lord. We serve the Lord Christ Amen!
