Verse
of the Day:
1
Peter 2:9 (KJV)
“But ye are a chosen
generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye
should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into
his marvellous light”
Last week we focused on setting a
standard and talked about “Drunk in Love” and why it is not a song that
should be going into our spirits. To reign in righteousness means to rule over
sin and set yourself apart from ungodliness.
When we believe in Christ Jesus
as our Lord and Savior, He puts in our hands a scepter of righteousness to walk
in righteous judgment. We have to choose to hold on to that scepter of
righteousness, because when we let it go, sin is crouching at the door.
Genesis
4:7
“If you do what
is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is
crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”
Hebrews
1:8 (KJV)
“But unto the Son he saith,
Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the
sceptre of thy kingdom.”
We
need to put on the whole armor of God and be ready to reign as kings and queens
in righteousness as we represent the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords! Think
about it. We represent our Father! Let’s not disappoint him and make Him
ashamed of us for our disobedience. He loves us with an unfailing love. How
much more should we offer up the sacrifices of praise through our lifestyle?
Romans
12:1-2 (KJV)
“I beseech you therefore,
brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living
sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And
be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your
mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of
God.”
Righteousness is
reasonable considering the great love God has lavished on us through the
atoning blood of Jesus. Let’s not allow the world to dictate our style and
behavior, but let God’s example of righteousness be our guide and lead us to
eternal and abundant life in Christ Jesus. We are His handiwork created for His
purpose to reign in righteousness. Amen!
